Claire Danes Would Make A Lousy Stay-At-Home Mom

CLAIREDANES-croppedClaire Danes is getting a little taste of the mommy wars, and she has only been a mother for one month!

The cover girl of this month's Elle magazine told the writer that she would make a "lousy stay-at-home" mom, saying: "I think I would make a lousy stay-at-home mom. It just wouldn't suit me. I feel so fortunate, in that I've had this arrow-straight focus that I wanted to act."

The criticisms in the comments were boring in their predictable 'she shouldn't have had a baby if she didn't want to take care of it' variety.

I couldn't even pack a diaper bag one month after having a baby, let alone choose a career path. But I doubt someone with Danes' laser-focus would change her mind. And why should she?

Danes is breastfeeding her infant son and was taking in the Golden Globes with the eye of someone who has been in baby mode for a month. Her parents were taking care of Cyrus while she accepted her award. I like the fact that she was worried about leaking. I admit it, I kind of wish she did. Think what it would have done for breastfeeding acceptance!

Of course, we can't talk about Claire Danes at the Golden Globes without mentioning the body. The body was, well, amazing. A little too amazing I thought. A little too skinny for 6 weeks post-partum.

But then she admitted that the Versace dress had major construction: "This is Versace, and they are really masters of illusion. I literally can't go to the bathroom unless I take the entire dress off. So, there [are] some serious things involved here." If you look at it, you can see how the dress does magically camouflage the baby bump area.

So Claire Danes is beautiful, talented, was on My So-Called Life and is married to Hugh Dancy. She is lucky, but not lucky enough to escape the constant backlash that comes with being a mother.

Good luck, Claire. Even you may need it.
