The Gift Aftermath. Send Help.

My house looks just like your house right now. Toys lying around that have no home, half-finished art projects, books piled on the counter and corners of tissue paper floating around under the couch.

It is a little much.

The boys are blowing their brains out on new video games (KinectSports 2, Skylanders, and Starcraft) and my daughter is constantly wanting me to play with her new dollhouse, dolls and art kits.

I'm just not sure how to limit it all. I sort of think that the few days after a gift-giving holiday should be ones with no screen time limits and unlimited hot chocolate and pajamas. But now that it's all piling up, I am getting irritated with my kids' screen habits and sense of entitlement.

It's the other side of gift-giving. The aftermath. And I have one more week of holidays to go. I hope to find homes for the new toys by then.

So I'm asking: how do you handle all the toy build-up? Do you get the kids to give away one toy for each toy they get? Or do you just make room for more? Do you keep some new toys hiding in the closet for when they get bored? Do you set up limits on new games?

What is your game plan for the rest of the holidays? Help.

Want more chaos? Last year, I was already thinking about the morning routine for the new year.
