The Five Best Toys of All Time

There are some gaps in my holiday shopping due to a lingering flu-like thing and you know, life. So you know what that means -- I will be doing some panicked last-minute shopping which can lead to bad decision making. That is, unless I can figure out ahead of time what are the best toys ever, that I can get with the least effort.

It's obvious once you think about it.

Which is what the guys at Wired Magazine's GeekDad did and they came up with this list of the best toys ever:

1. Stick

2. Box

3. String

4. Cardboard Tube

5. Dirt

and after considerable research they came up with a sixth:

6. Water

You can see what they decided against like: bubble wrap, tape and balls. I would probably add in puppies, television and balloons but I can understand why decided against those.

What do you think are the best toys of all time?

If you are doing some last-minute shopping you can check out GeekDad's book for geeking out with your kids at home with science.

Want more chaos? Last year, I wrote about what to do when your kids won't share their new toys, and if I didn't have an expert you wouldn't believe me.
