Demi Lovato Blasts Disney for Eating Disorder Joke

Inappropriate comments and suggestive jokes are becoming more and more commonplace on Disney's tween shows. But Demi Lovato, a former Disney star took to Twitter to call Disney out on them.

Lovato who left the show So Random, to enter rehab for bulimia and self-injury, blasted a tweet to the Disney PR team after a hearing a joke making light of eating disorders. A character on the dance show Shake It Up said: "I could just eat you up, well if I ate."

She tweeted: "I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress' from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about.."

The Gift Aftermath. Send Help.

My house looks just like your house right now. Toys lying around that have no home, half-finished art projects, books piled on the counter and corners of tissue paper floating around under the couch.

It is a little much.

All Pinked Up and Nothing to Build: Lego for Girls

We love Lego here at Chaos. There are Star Wars sets and headless minifigs lying all over the house. There are corrupted cars and colourful towers piling up in the corners. And we aren't alone.

What parent hasn't had a nostalgic moment putting together a Lego set? What parent hasn't shouted with frustration after finding a misplaced piece near the end of the instructions? And what parent hasn't screamed with agony after standing on a tiny brick lying on the ground?

And yet, Lego is one of the few toys that kids and parents both love. We feel good about the educational and motor skill development that comes from playing with the little bricks, and experience a moment of parental pride in our sons' obvious brilliance when they complete 87 steps in a short time.

But what about the girls?

Xmas Birthday: Will My Daughter Grow Up Bitter About Her Special Day?

My daughter's birthday is Christmas Eve. She hasn't quite figured out that kind of sucks yet. She thinks it is very special.

Whenever she tells someone about her special day, people say "you were your mother's Christmas present." As if Christmas was a good day to have a baby.

The Five Best Toys of All Time

There are some gaps in my holiday shopping due to a lingering flu-like thing and you know, life. So you know what that means -- I will be doing some panicked last-minute shopping which can lead to bad decision making. That is, unless I can figure out ahead of time what are the best toys ever, that I can get with the least effort.

It's obvious once you think about it.

Is Anyone Sending Christmas/Holiday/Brag Cards This Year?

Do you know what I found in my mailbox today?

C A Magazine. As in, the magazine for accountants. Even a cynic like me has to ask: what happened to all the holiday cards?

Chanukah 101 or Hanukkah 101

Tonight is the first night of Chanukah. And as I write this, I am freaked out a little bit because I thought it was tomorrow night. Because my calendar says tomorrow, but I should know that Jewish holidays always start the night before, on the eve. Luckily, I have eight days to get caught up.

I know what you are thinking: eight days?

When people find out that we celebrate Chanukah, after they get over the first awkward Happy Chanukah statement, they always want to know a few things. Like:

Toy Store Drops Sexist Division, Will Others Follow?

I was cruising the aisles of Toys R Us and was a little shocked to find myself in a sea of pink. Pink shelves, pink signs, pink products. And then a few aisles later I'm in a sea of blue.

It was a bit over-the-top. I understand that marketers feel very strongly that Beyblades are for boys. But I happened to be buying one for my daughter. Was I the only one in the boys' section buying a gift for a girl? Are there people buying gifts for boys in the girls' section?

What Would You Do If You Were a Witness to Spanking?

After writing about spanking yesterday, and reading the comments of the people who spanked and were spanked. I have to admit my mind has not been changed, the bottom line is that I do not condone hitting children. So, I was wondering what I would I do if I witnessed a parent spanking a child?

Would I step in? Would I just shoot dirty looks? Would I walk away muttering and tweeting? Would I take a moment to understand what was going on? Would I hand them a card from the Parenting Network and then move on?

Do People Still Use Spanking to Discipline?

Do you ever spank your kids?

I don't know anyone who will admit to spanking their kids. Most people will admit to overwhelming anger, to losing their cool, possibly to the occasional rougher-than-normal placement, some to the occasional smack -- but calm, cool spanking as a discipline technique?
