Babble Releases Top 50 Dad Blogs You Should Be Reading

The interwebs is filled with a lot of provocative, well-written and thoughtful blogs. And happily, (for me) mom blogs have been a big part of the growth of blogs while furthering a thoughtful discussion of modern parenting.

Parenting blogs have been predominantly female for the last five years, but as the role of dads change, dad bloggers have been a growing force online.

To acknowledge the growth of dad bloggers and their unique perspective, Babble has released their list of top 50 dad bloggers saying:

Dad bloggers are gaining more recognition with every passing month. In the process, they are also changing the way we think about fatherhood, parenthood, and exactly what is possible for men raising families.

The list is broken up into different categories including: funniest, most confessional and most useful. The list was topped by Micke Adamick from Cry It Out, a San Francisco writer and dad of one. His blog is beautifully designed and written and worth a read.

Second on the list -- is a woman: Polly Pagenhart from Lesbian Dad: notes from crossroads of mother and father. Polly writes about gender politics, and social change, but also touches on the small moments of raising kids.

The rest of the list is filled out with big bloggers and small, some you will find interesting and some you may want to give a miss to. When the list was released, there was some controversy about some of the choices, who was left off and who as put on. (It may surprise you but blogging is like one big office and so there is always a little bit of office drama when someone important picks a favourite.) Babble left off group blogs from the list (such as Dadcentric), something they are aiming to rectify in the next few weeks.

I'm just starting to read the many dad blogs out there, I think they often provide a different -- sometimes edgier -- perspective.

So, I'm asking: do you read dad blogs? Do you have some favourites? If not, who are your favourite mom blogs?

Shameless plug: While we are talking lists, I'm honoured to say that Embrace the Chaos was chosen as a top Canadian blog by SavvyMom.ca.

Want more chaos? Last year, I premiered the Canadian version of the It Gets Better video.
