Overdosing on I-Dosing

I feel like we’ve been here before. Music is an evil influence, it is turning our kids into zombies! Soon they will be tapping in and tuning out!

So says some American media who are trumpeting the dangers of I-dosing, which is essentially listening to droning music on earphones. All teens need is access to the Internet and a pair of headphones to download the digital drugs that can produce a state of ecstasy by using binaural or two-toned technology. This droning music supposedly can make listeners high by altering their brain waves. The concern is that i-dosing is a “gateway” drug that can lead to other more powerful ingestible drugs.

So we are supposed to be scared of kids turning off their phones, Twitter accounts and all other social media just to lie down and listen to music that has been used in anti-anxiety and sleep therapy. Sounds good, maybe I’ll try it.

Wake me when the scare is over.
